We at the Journey Centre first saw this VW Golf GTI, named “VW GTI RS” in the online world about a year ago after doing the rounds on various social media sites.
It caught our eyes on so many levels, the photography, the car and most importantly the Thule products.
Based on a VW Golf GTI (US Model) so much time and attention to detail has gone into this build. The Pandem Rocket Bunny wide arch kit (https://www.greddy.com/products/aerodynamics/rocketbunny) with custom designed and built rear bumper to the Vossen Forged LC-106 wheels (https://www.vossenwheels.com).
The Owner of this vehicle is Sam Dobbins, Vossen’s Creative Director (https://blog.vossenwheels.com/author/sam/) is a massive fan of Thule products, look over his past vehicles they have all featured Thule products at some point.
Having just a 30min time slot at the track to shoot shows what a talent Sam is at photography. Question is, How did Sam know which track and which corner to shoot at? He used Forza motorsport 6 Xbox game to find and plan his shoot before he got to the track!
The Thule products used on this VW Golf GTI RS are the Thule Sonic (US name, was the Motion and now Motion XT here in the UK) and Thule Black Wingbar Roof Bar System including vehicle specific fitting kit. As you have noticed from the photos, this is a modified Thule Black Wingbar Roof Bar. As the Owner says, “Lowered Roof Rack”. He has cut the Roof Bar in 4 places to lower the middle section where the roof box fits to create the lowered look. This just adds to the whole custom look of this VW Golf GTI and the Thule Motion and WingBar system, as I am sure you agree just suits this car so much.
